Ducks & Geese

Add to your flock with waterborne poultry

Do you have a passion for waterborne poultry?

If waterborne poultry is your passion, we have several different breeds of ducks and geese for you to choose from.

Please note –

Our stock is constantly changing; this is a list of what we can hold, not a list of permanent breeds. If you are looking for a particular breed, call us first to avoid disappointment. We are also able to pre-order in birds if you are looking for a specific breed.

Khaki Campbell

  • Originated in England at the end of 19th Century
  • Excellent foragers
  • Access to water required for paddling and bathing
  • Reluctant flyers so wing-clipping generally considered unnecessary
  • Lay up to 300 large, white eggs a year. Really tasty and great for cake baking

  • Originate from Lake Cayuga (Finger Lakes), New York
  • Beautiful, reflective green plumage
  • Docile and friendly, great introduction to duck keeping
  • Too heavy to fly, easily confined in a garden
  • Lay between 40 and 100 eggs per year

Muscovy Ducks

  • Native to Central and South America – the only domestic duck not derived from mallard stock
  • Unique red, lumpy crest around eyes and above beak called carruncling. More prominent in drakes who are larger than females
  • Generally quiet and gentle birds
  • Females can sit three times a year, egg clutches vary from 8 to 21 eggs

Indian Runner

  • Found on the Indonesian Islands of Lombok, Java and Bali
  • Run upright and can’t fly
  • Happy with a shallow tub to splash in if no pond available
  • Great as a family pet

Black East

Indie Ducks

  • Small and beautifully coloured – similar to that of the Cayuga Duck
  • A lovely ornamental duck to add to a waterfowl collection
  • Ground nest boxes should be provided

  • Originating from Buckinghamshire. Historically were walked to market from the Vale of Aylesbury to London (40 miles max)
  • Females can lay up to 120 large, white eggs a year, which are very rich in taste
  • A good utility duck, who seldom fly due to their large size
  • Good natured and friendly

Silver Appleyard Ducks

  • Standard and Mini
  • Developed in Britain during the 1930s and ‘40s
  • Quiet, calm and friendly nature. Well suited to being kept at home
  • Don’t need a huge pond, a shallow tub to splash around and clean in is fine
  • Great for first time keepers
  • They will lay around 250 large white-shelled eggs per year

  • Originally bred as decoy ducks
  • Wonderful ornamental, miniature ducks – vocal, cute, and absolutely gorgeous
  • Come in an amazing array of colours
  • Like a tub of water to splash in

  • These will lay around 160 white shelled eggs yearly
  • These lovely little birds have a quiet nature and are well suited to being kept at home, and will tame up quickly.
  • Welsh Harlequins are social birds and best suited in pairs or more.
  • A fairly recent breed to the hobby. Great for first time keepers and those with children.

  • One of the most popular breeds of domestic goose
  • Two personalities: those that hate everything that moves, and those which have to be picked up and carried to their shed. Depends partly on the strain, but mainly on how you rear and treat them
  • Make wonderful watchdogs – noisy when anything unusual is around
  • Can lay 80 to 100 eggs a year, excellent for making fresh pasta and cakes

  • A medium sized goose with a sociable nature
  • Attractive plumage and features

Toulouse/Embden Geese

  • A large domestic goose, cross between Toulouse & Embden
  • Attractive completely mottled grey plumage
  • Tame and easy to look after
  • They make very good guard dogs! Ideal if you have horses or a little bit of land
  • Generally used for their large white eggs

Wonderful garden and poultry centre. We recently went here to buy two ducks and two chickens. The staff member we spoke to was incredibly knowledgeable and seemed very passionate about his job. It was a great experience and will be going back again soon to say "hi" and buy some more poultry feed. The cafe is lovely and we enjoy eating there, though the wait time can be a little uncomfortable for the kids if you go at a busy period.
